A famous Danish gender activist and owner of Copenhagen’s first gender-neutral children's nursery is found murdered in Malmö. Saga is assigned to the case, but cannot work with her former Danish teammate Martin Rohde, who is serving a ten-year prison sentence. It was she who reported him, convinced that this was the right thing to do. Now she must work with a new Danish colleague, who has trouble accepting Saga for who she is. The murder sparks the beginning of a series of spectacular crimes that ultimately reach back into Saga's own past. With her career at risk, and the question of personal responsibility haunting her, it looks as if she might be pulled from the case. Then her mother unexpectedly re-enters her life, both physically and emotionally. In addition to searching for the killer, Saga must now also cope with unforeseen – and unwanted – demands from her mother.

Saga Norén Starring Sofia Helin

Saga Norén, Malmö Police, is an incredibly skillful Swedish police officer and investigator, played by Sofia Helin. Work is her life. Her social circle outside of work is limited, largely due to her inability to interact with other people. She is incredibly knowledgable and well- read on most topics, but can sometimes seem humourless and a somewhat uncaring thanks to her outspoken manner and lack of social skills.

Linn Björkman Starring Maria Kulle

Linn Björkman becomes Saga’s new boss. She is a straightforward, clear and efficient senior officer, who doesn’t have the same permissive approach to the way Saga Norén functions. She places higher demands on her, questions Saga’s actions, and limits her authority when she sees how affected Saga is by the new case.

Henrik Sabroe Starring Thure Lindhardt

Henrik Sabroe is married and has two children, but he is hiding a big secret from the world. When Henrik gets to know Saga and understands her idiosyncrasies, he asks her to look at a cold case that involves him on a personal level.

Claes Sandberg Starring Reuben Sallmander

Claes Sandberg used to be Freddie Holst’s business partner, and was also married to Freddie’s current wife, Åsa. He has made a fresh start in life, and travels around lecturing about the meaning of life - Happiness is a Choice.

Lise Friis Andersen Starring Sonja Richter

Lise Friis Andersen is a controversial and influential Danish blogger, who openly expresses her disgust with the ongoing gender debate in Denmark. She supports the more conservative ideals in society at all levels.

Freddie Holst Starring Nicolas Bro

Freddie Holst is a well-known, successful Danish business man and Claes Sandberg’s former business partner. He is now married to Claes’ former wife, Åsa. Art is very near to Freddie’s heart and he has just opened an exhibition so that the public can see his collected works.
